Equip your Kitchen Workshop Series

Join us to learn some traditional crafts and new skills to enable you to move away from using mass produced items and begin creating a home-made bespoke set of beautiful and functional kitchen essentials. In this workshop series there is something for everyone. Choose from spoon carving, beeswax wraps, ceramics, basketry and sewing.

Book onto as many of the workshops are you like but hurry as spaces are limited!


Carve a Spoon with Lee John Phillips

Saturday 29 June 2019  2 – 6pm

Join us for an afternoon of spoon carving where you will learn basic knife techniques in a relaxed and safe environment.

All materials will be provided and the next day you’ll be cooking your eggs with your very own creation!

Lee has 14 years creative teaching experience, is co-founder of the Narberth Whittling Association, a member of the Association of Pole-Lathe Turners & Green Woodworkers and is a spoon carver and illustrator creating practical and contemporary utensils.

Weave an Irish Skib with West Wales Willows

Saturday 24 August 2019 10am-4.30pm

Learn how to weave an Irish Skib basket, traditionally used to drain and serve potatoes. Often made using colourful bands of willow and a beautiful “portcullis” centre in the base. Master a variety of techniques including a two-rod pairing weave, adding side stakes, using a three-rod wale and completing the basket with an attractive border.

This flat, tray-like basket can also be used as a bread basket and is perfect for beginners and those wishing to extend their knowledge.

Different coloured willows will be available.

Beeswax Wraps and Bags with Louise Bird

Tuesday 27 August 2019 11am – 3pm

Come and learn how to make beeswax wraps and sandwich bags with Carmarthen based textile artist Louise Bird. Help reduce your use of plastic with these stylish alternatives to cling film and tinfoil. Beeswax wraps and bags are washable and should last for up to a year, after that they can be popped in the compost!£5 Drop-in

Throw an oven proof dish with Mill Rundle Pottery

Saturday 21 Sept 2019  9.30am – 12.30pm

at Mill Rundle Pottery, Dolwerdd, Drefach Felindre, SA44 5UG

In this morning workshop you will create a simple pie dish fit for oven or table. Simon Day will lead you through the process from preparing the clay and centring on the wheel to throwing your final dish.  It will be fired and glazed ready for you to use, with pride. Simon is a potter with more than 40 years’ experience making domestic stone wear and creating ceramics for some Michelin starred restaurants.

Sew a Linen Apron with Camille Jacquemart

Saturday 19 October 2019 9am – 5 pm

Sew a beautiful cross backed linen apron with Camille Jacquemart of Thimble Studios. Perfect for the kitchen, the studio and the garden or as a special Christmas gift!

Camille has a wealth of knowledge and experience of teaching sewing at all levels. A fashion graduate with experience of working with Alexander McQueen and Fred Butler she now runs Thimble Studios teaching sewing to people across West Wales.

Basic sewing experience required. All materials provided.
