Rhydygors School Enterprise Project

rhydygorsmuralPupils from Rhydygors Special School worked with local artist Swci Delic to brighten up a dark and gloomy corner of town. You can see their mural in the alleyway between Pandora Shop, 1 Lammas Street and the back of Carmarthen Market.

“For several years Oriel Myrddin has worked with Rhydygors pupils, bringing them into contact with professional artists, sparking inspiration and broadening career horizons. It is a pleasure to see how the creativity of these young people is having such a positive impact on the Town.” (Seren Stacey Acting Education Officer)

This led the students to develop their design ideas and produce a range of products they could sell locally. Their entrepreneurial skills are growing along with real life understanding of financial management. They have already planned how the profits will be spent. The school courtyard area will be developed into an outdoor gallery space and will include a small shed for music, performance and storytelling.

Pupils developed their pattern designs into simple line studies which were then transferred digitally to a 2D laser cutter and a range of plastic key fobs were made. The designs were also used to produce a range of card designs.IMG_1405

If you would like to support their enterprise project their products are available at Oriel Myrddin Gallery during the Makers Market exhibition ( 7 Nov-31 Dec 2015)
