Lucia Elena Jones is the latest in our series of Welsh artists featured as part of our Back Wall Series in the gallery shop.
Lucia Elena Jones’ practice explores the tactile nature of paint through rhythm, repetition and colour whilst forming pathways to memories spanning across continents, medium and decades alike. Resting on the cusp between abstraction and representation, her paintings draw inspiration from travels to Japan, an Italian-Welsh heritage and exchanges invoked from collective memory and found imagery. Time, place and material possibilities of paint unfurl on bare canvas, nostalgia ebbing forth in their midst.
A Cardiff-based painter, Jones graduated from Falmouth University in 2014 with First Class BA(hons) in Fine Art and has since exhibited in Penarth, Manchester, St Ives and London.
